As the intense summer heat cools down, Americans nationwide welcome their unique fall season with open arms. This season brings a close to the buzzing excitement of summer and leads the way to a comfy and welcomed change.

Fall is the season that appeals to the senses, starting with all the smells. Even now, stores have begun bombarding shoppers with fall fragrances such as apple, cinnamon, and pumpkin. Soon, fall menus will feature sweet and spicy drinks like the iconic pumpkin spiced latte. Before we know it, tasty pies, fritters and cobblers will make their appearance the more we get into the season.

Soon, every state will look and feel different. In Oklahoma, the feeling of the crisp air on the skin and in the lungs prompts the locals to bundle up in their sweaters. Connecticut holds the most captivating views of red and orange trees. Michigan locals proudly sip on their state’s local apple cider. In Idaho, bike tires crunch the fallen leaves as they follow their trail.

Fall is also the season that brings families close together. The Georgia State Fair is a great family activity for the weekend. New Orleans’ annual Po-Boy Festival brings locals and visitors alike to the bustling streets of historic neighborhoods. One of my favorite fall activities is visiting the pumpkin patches in Maryland. With a mix of the crisp air, fall foliage, and activities, it is the perfect place to visit with family and friends. My fondest memory of the pumpkin patch was in ninth grade when I picked out two small pumpkins to take home. I used them to decorate our kitchen table. This made our home feel cozier, deepening my love for fall.

Another aspect of fall that is worth admiring is the invitation for change. I recently saw this quote on Pinterest and it resonated with me: “Fall is proof that change is beautiful.” Whether it’s a change in the weather, the classroom, or a season of life, it is beautiful. Change allows us an opportunity to grow and see a new perspective. Fall matters…It is important to take some time and admire what the seasonal change has to offer!
